AUSTIN — Gov.-elect Greg Abbott told a morning crowd of legislators, political analysts and Austin insiders Thursday he plans to keep his promise to uphold the constitutional principles that have made the state and nation effective successes.

Abbott will be sworn in as the 48th governor of Texas in days. He will replace Gov. Rick Perry, who was the longest serving governor in state history.

Abbott challenged the Texas Public Policy Foundation, a conservative think-tank, which is holding the pre-session event, and its staff to answer a call by President Barack Obama regarding job creation.
