TEMPLE – Governor Greg Abbott today held a Texas Taxpayer Empowerment event at Bold Republic Brewing Company where he outlined his Empowering Texas Taxpayers plan. He highlighted how his proposal cuts rates, reins in local tax hikes, and puts more money back into the pockets of hardworking Texans.
“Right now, it is far too easy for local governments to impose higher taxes on Texans without their approval,” said Governor Abbott. “The hardworking families and business owners of Texas deserve complete control over their property taxes. Next session, we will overhaul the property tax system to give Texans the power to stop local governments from hiking your property taxes, putting more money back into the pockets of hardworking Texans.”
“The easy way is to pass these five property tax reforms and let you truly own your home. If that does not happen, I will go to the ballot box and make sure we elect the representatives for you and your fellow Texans to make sure we slash your property taxes for good.”
