Texas Fire Chiefs Association, San Antonio Professional Fire Fighters Association, and Texas State Association of Fire Fighters Endorse Governor Abbott for Reelection

AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott today received the endorsement of critical organizations representing emergency medical services, firefighters, and first responders. These organizations provide hands-on training to those who save Texans’ lives. The Governor was endorsed by the Texas Fire Chiefs Association, San Antonio Professional Fire Fighters Association, and the Texas State Association of Fire Fighters.

“Our heroic firefighters, emergency medical personal, and first responders put their lives on the line to protect our families, safeguard our communities, and save lives,” said Governor Abbott. “These brave men and women are the backbone of public safety, and I am grateful to have their support. Their endorsement is a testament to our shared values to uphold law and order and protect every Texan through any disaster. As Governor, I will always work to ensure our brave first responders have the training, resources, equipment, and funding they need to do their jobs safely and effectively.”

“The Texas Fire Chiefs Association proudly endorses Governor Abbott for re-election,” said Texas Fire Chiefs Association President & Fire Chief Dave Parker. “Governor Abbott’s leadership has strengthened the Texas fire service through his unwavering support for professional development, enhanced training opportunities, and critical infrastructure investments that help our departments operate effectively. He understands that strong fire service leadership is essential to protecting Texas communities, and he has consistently provided the tools and resources that allow fire chiefs across this state to lead with excellence. The Texas Fire Chiefs Association looks forward to continuing our work with Governor Abbott to build safer, more resilient communities throughout the Lone Star State.”

“The San Antonio Professional Fire Fighters Association is honored to endorse Governor Abbott for reelection,” said San Antonio Professional Fire Fighters Association President S. Joe Jones. “Governor Abbott has demonstrated his commitment to the men and women who run towards danger by ensuring that fire departments across Texas have the resources needed to keep our communities safe. He has supported legislation that protects firefighter benefits and enhances our training and equipment. We are proud to support him as he continues to make Texas the safest state in the nation.”

“We are proud to support Governor Abbott for reelection,” said Texas State Association of Fire Fighters President John Riddle. “He understands the risks our members face and has supported policies that enhance training standards, strengthen retirement security, and provide departments with the resources they need to protect their communities. We look forward to our continued partnership as we work to keep Texans safe.”

Governor Abbott is committed to supporting first responders and emergency personnel, especially during times of natural disasters. This past year, Texas funded $5 million for firefighter cancer research, secured $3 million for border fire departments, and increased penalties for drivers who fail to slow down or move over. Since 2023, the Governor’s Public Safety Office has awarded more than $31.7 million to Texas fire departments, including about $7 million for border regions through Operation Lone Star and the Border Zone Fire Grant Program. Governor Abbott will continue supporting the firefighters, EMTs, and first responders who keep Texas communities safe.
