MCALLEN – Governor Greg Abbott last night delivered the keynote address at the Hidalgo County Republican Party’s 2026 Lincoln Reagan dinner, calling on conservatives to elect strong Republican leaders who will champion commonsense policies and fight back against the socialist Democrats’ attempts to turn Texas blue.
“Republicans must unite and stay strong in the face of radical socialism,” said Governor Abbott. “Unity drives victory, and Republicans must win in November to defend the values that keep Texas the best state to live, work, and raise a family.”
The Governor discussed his Keep Texas Affordable agenda, outlining proposals to deliver meaningful savings for Texans by championing property tax reform, capping the cost of life-saving medications at $25, and advancing additional reforms that expand opportunity and keeps Texas the most affordable large state in the nation.
Additionally, Governor Abbott also mentioned Texas’ unprecedented border security mission that held the line against Joe Biden’s reckless open border policies. Republicans are fighting to keep violent criminals off our streets, cut property taxes, and defend parents’ rights, while Democrats are pushing an extreme agenda of open borders, boys in girls’ sports, and soft-on-crime policies.
