AMARILLO – Governor Greg Abbott today met with rural Texans to discuss his plan to lower the cost of living for Texas families while strengthening rural communities across the state. The Governor was joined by Representative Caroline Fairly and candidate for House District 86 Holly Jeffreys.
“We want to make Texas #1 for affordability,” said Governor Abbott. “By slashing your property tax rates, cutting the cost of insurance, and lowering everyday expenses, Texas will remain the economic engine of America while putting more money in your pocket.”
During the discussion, Governor Abbott highlighted Texas’ continued investments in rural communities, including $1.4 billion in funding for rural hospitals across Texas, more than $1 million to support West Texas veterans and their families, $250,000 in public safety grants in Amarillo, and major expansions of telehealth and telemedicine services for rural communities.
Governor Abbott also discussed his Keep Texas Affordable agenda, which will cut property taxes and lower the cost of healthcare, housing, home and auto insurance, electricity, and higher education. Together, these reforms will help Texans keep more of their hard-earned money and ensure Texas remains the best state to live, work, and raise a family.
