GINA: VIOLENT CRIMINAL ILLEGALS BEFORE TEXAS FAMILIES
AUSTIN – Gina Hinojosa had the chance to stand with Texas families by supporting Jocelyn’s Law, a bill that would deny bail to illegal immigrants charged with a violent crime. But instead, she chose to let criminal illegals roam free and ravage Texas families. What’s worse, when lawmakers took a final vote on the bill, Hinojosa was nowhere to be found. Governor Abbott has made it his mission to safeguard Texans and support the law enforcement officers who protect them; Hinojosa has demonstrated her loyalty lies with undocumented immigrants charged with rape, murder, human and drug trafficking, and other violent crimes.

Jocelyn Nungaray’s family honors Jocelyn’s life at 2025 State of the State Address in Austin, TX
- In 2025, Gina Hinojosa failed to appear for the final vote on a constitutional amendment that would have denied bail to violent criminal illegal immigrants. Her inaction ultimately killed the bill – a bill named after 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray, who was brutally murdered by two violent Venezuelan men who crept into America illegally under President Biden’s watch. - Jocelyn Nungaray’s mother, Alexis Nungaray, said of the tragedy, “[I will] never stop fighting for justice to be served for [Jocelyn]. The two men who ripped my daughter away from me should have never been here. They should have never been roaming our streets freely, as freely as they were. - Hinojosa not only voted against “justice” for Jocelyn and others like her, but she also openly supported President Biden’s deadly open border policies, which allowed for the flood of dangerous immigrants and illicit drugs into the United States.
- Additionally, in 2023, Hinojosa voted against major legislation to defend Texans from threats at the border and opposed historic legislation creating a criminal offense for illegal entry into Texas from a foreign nation. Gina Hinojosa has a long record of soft-on-crime policies that endanger Texans. She has no credibility on issues of public safety and cannot be trusted to put Texans first when it comes to upholding the rule of law and keeping communities safe.
