TEXARKANA – Governor Greg Abbott today traveled to Texarkana to meet with rural Texans to discuss the Abbott Affordability Agenda and how his plan will lower costs for families and businesses. The discussion took place at Miller Bowie Supply, a local business serving the agricultural community with the equipment and supplies farmers and ranchers rely on to keep their operations running. Governor Abbott was joined by Senator Bryan Hughes and candidate for House District 1 Chris Spencer.
“Rural Texas is the backbone of our great state,” Governor Abbott said. “Rural communities feed and fuel what is now the eighth largest economy in the world. They are the very definition of what it means to be a Texan. We must lower costs for Texans in every corner of our state, and with my affordability agenda we will help make Texas the most affordable state in America.”
During the discussion, Governor Abbott spoke with Texarkana community members regarding water usage and affordability issues. The Governor highlighted Texas’ generational water investment over 20 years to strengthen the state’s water infrastructure and ensure communities have reliable water supplies for generations. He also discussed his Abbott Affordability Agenda, which will slash property taxes, and lower health, auto and home insurance, housing, and electricity costs, and make college more affordable and attainable for Texas families.
