SOCIALIST GINA HINOJOSA: A THREAT TO TEXAS VALUES
AUSTIN – Gina Hinojosa is headed to Nacogdoches on Wednesday for a campaign event originally hosted by the Pineywoods Young Democratic Socialists of America — until the socialist group deleted its post and “passed the torch” to the normie Democrat student group. The event didn’t go away. Same time. Same place. And the Young Democratic Socialists say they still plan to show up and support Hinojosa.
No surprise, Hinojosa has cast votes on numerous bills related to policing, criminal justice, and gender policy that align with positions advocated by the Democratic Socialists of America.

On September 30 at 4 p.m., Hinojosa heads to Nacogdoches for a campaign event that was originally set to be hosted by the Pineywoods Young Democratic Socialists of America — until Hinojosa realized how bad it would look. Instead of cancelling, Hinojosa “rebranded” the event and slapped a new logo on it. Although the Pineywoods Young Democratic Socialists deleted their original posting, the young socialists promised to still be in attendance and remain supportive of Hinojosa and her socialist campaign policy proposals: “We can’t wait to show up and support this event. And we hope you are too. Same time. Same place. Just a different org.”
Despite her actions in the Texas Legislature — and her own affiliation with Democratic socialists — Hinojosa does not believe socialism is a threat in Texas.
During a CNN interview in August 2026, Hinojosa was asked if she would “disavow” the Democratic Socialists of America in Texas. Her response: “We don’t see that in Texas.”
