Secures Endorsements from Largest Statewide Law Enforcement Organizations
ARLINGTON – Governor Greg Abbott today joined local police officers, sheriffs, and anti-human trafficking advocates to highlight his four-point public safety plan and Texas’ ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking. The Governor was joined by Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Waybourn, Tarrant County District Attorney Phil Sorrells, Arlington Police Association President Jesse Minton, Unbound Now CEO Susan Peters, Denton County Sheriff Tracy Murphree, Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman, and Wise County Sheriff Cary Mellema.
“Most violent crime is committed by repeat offenders, which is why I launched the Repeat Offender Task Force, which has had substantial success,” said Governor Abbott. “They have arrested hundreds of repeat offenders and high threat criminals before they can get to their next victim. We will continue to work side by side with these law officers to keep Texas safe.”
“Governor Abbott you have our full endorsement,” said Arlington Police Association President Jesse Minton. “The Arlington Police Association PAC and Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas PAC have your back.”
The Governor exposed radical Democrat Gina Hinojosa’s soft-on-crime record, including her votes against tougher penalties for human smuggling and the operation of stash houses. Hinojosa also voted against denying bail to individuals accused of murder, including provisions addressing certain offenses committed by criminal illegal immigrants. Her record is dangerous and raises serious concerns about her view of public safety and what it means to secure our communities.
