AUSTIN — Texans for Greg Abbott released a new ad highlighting Gina Hinojosa’s votes against bills that would keep violent criminals behind bars and hold district attorneys accountable when they fail to enforce the law.
In the ad, Kristina Byington, a lifelong Texas Democrat, shares her family’s tragic story and the failure of Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza to keep her cousin’s murderer behind bars. Byington explains why she is voting for Governor Greg Abbott this November.
Hinojosa represented Austin for a decade in the Texas House, where she opposed legislation designed to hold elected prosecutors accountable.
“Democrat Gina Hinojosa has repeatedly failed to support policies that keep Texans safe. It’s one of the many reasons she ranked as the number one liberal in the Texas House. Texans deserve a Governor who values them more than violent criminals.”
— Catherine Frazier, Texans for Greg Abbott Communications Director
- Kristina Byington on her cousin Anita Byington’s murder: “It wasn’t enough for this animal to kill her and destroy so many lives. After lie upon lie upon lie, here he is again, wreaking havoc on our lives. And the truly disgusting part is that he’s somehow gotten The Innocence Project and the Travis County District Attorney’s Office to participate in this travesty, this sham. I feel personally victimized all over again by all of them.”(“Anita Byington’s Murder and the Travis County DA’s Pursuit to Pervert Justice,” Kristina Byington, Medium, 12/29/23)
