LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – The Lubbock County Republican Party welcomed Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott to town on Friday night as part of its Lincoln and Reagan Day dinner.

The event was held at the Lubbock Country Club.

Abbott, in his keynote speech, addressed what he called “the fight against an overreaching federal government.”

Abbott told Republicans not to worry about the way the national election turned out.

He said the recent elections in Texas ended in a great victory for Republicans and that the Texas model for doing business is the right way to go.

Abbott said, “Texas is the leading state in the country for creating jobs for a reason. It’s because we believe in limited government, and we’re going to fight to keep it that way.”

Abbott said Republicans are facing challenges from the president’s administration and their “overreaching illegal actions.”

He said he has filed more than 20 lawsuits to stop the administration from violating the constitution.
