Attorney General Greg Abbott addressed Republican women at the Bentwater Yacht Club Wednesday and also commented on Tom Pauken’s withdrawal from the gubernatorial race Thursday.

“It’s good to be back in Montgomery County and the North Shore with some of the most powerful people in politics in Texas and that is Republican women,” Abbott said to the members of the North Shore Republican Women.

He thanked every woman for their effort and hard work in the past year.

“Collectively, you have logged more than one million hours of volunteer time, working to ensure Republicans continue to rule this state,” Abbott said, referring to all Texas republican women.

He informed the members of campaign strategies he’s heard about used by Wendy Davis, democrat candidate for governor.

Abbott credited his wife, Cecilia, for helping to keep Texas red, as she has recently quit her full-time job as an educator to be with him during his campaign.

After the meeting, Abbott installed the 2014 North Shore Republican Women officers; President Sharon O’Neil, First Vice President/Programs Stephanie Collins, Second Vice President/Membership Denise Baker, Third Vice President/Ways & Means and Recording Secretary Phyllis Rainey.

With Pauken withdrawing Thursday from the governor’s race, Abbott commented through a press release.

“In the race for Governor, Tom offered thoughtful ideas in areas such as vocational education and workforce development,” Abbot said. “I thank him for his valuable contributions to the race, and I look forward to working together with him to build an even better Texas.”
