With the country abuzz with questions about the NSA, IRS, ObamaCare and other government intrusion, it’s not surprising that results from a new survey show record high numbers of Americans believe the federal government is too powerful.

Six in 10 Americans (60%) believe the federal government has too much power, one percentage point above the previous high recorded in September 2010. At least half of Americans since 2005 have said the government has too much power. Thirty-two percent now say the government has the right amount of power. Few say it has too little power. –Gallup

Since last year, all Americans, irrespective of political party, showed increasing concerns that the federal government has too much power. Meanwhile in Texas, conservatives like Greg Abbott are dedicated to small government and states’ rights.
