AUSTIN – Today, more than 30 business groups from across Texas announced that they are supporting Governor Greg Abbott’s re-election. At the event held at Sunbelt Material Handling in San Antonio, a diverse group of organizations from the state’s business community came together to praise Governor Abbott for his efforts to keep Texas a business friendly state.

Thanking the groups for their support, Governor Abbott said, “Because of all the companies and the Texans you represent, Texas continues to be the number one economic destination in America. We have been ranked the ‘Best State for Business’ for 17 years in a row, and more Texans have a job today than ever before.”

“Governor Abbott has kept his promise to make Texas the best state for small business. He helped stabilize the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund and avoid big rate increases for small businesses. He’s made liability and regulatory reform a priority, committed to improving workforce development and done everything he can to keep businesses open during the pandemic. On behalf of our small business members, the NFIB Texas PAC is proud to endorse Greg Abbott for a third term as governor,” said Annie Spilman, State Director of NFIB-Texas PAC.

Tony Bennett, President & CEO of the Texas Association of Manufacturers and Board Member of the Manufacturers PAC of Texas (MPACT), said, “Working with Governor Abbott’s proven policies and leadership, the Texas manufacturing sector is continuing to expand activity at a rapid pace, and Texas has been the top exporting state now for two decades running.”

“Governor Abbott is a tireless champion for Texas job creators. He understands that over-regulation and increased taxation are kryptonite to economic health. On his watch, taxes are light and regulatory barriers are low. For 17 consecutive years, the Lone Star State has been named the Best State for Business, and with Governor Abbott at the helm, Texas will retain that title for years to come,” said Texas Association of Business President & CEO Glenn Hamer.

“The trucking industry is absolutely essential to a functional supply chain and it is critical that our state’s leadership recognizes that importance. Thankfully, Governor Greg Abbott has long been an advocate for the trucking industry. He understands that over-regulation of an already heavily regulated industry is not a recipe for success. When the trucking industry was called upon throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, he issued emergency declarations and waivers to ensure trucks were on the road delivering life-saving medical equipment and supplies communities relied on. Governor Abbott recognizes that trucking is a critical piece of the supply chain and that any disruption is detrimental for Texans. He is often the first call we receive during disasters to make sure we have what we need to keep freight moving. He’s a leader we know will do his part to get more trucks on the road safely and do all he can to continue to grow Texas’ thriving economy. TXTA is proud to endorse Governor Abbott for re-election,” said John D. Esparza, TXTA President and CEO.

“I would like to thank the Governor for all his efforts to create the best business climate in the nation here in Texas. With the combination of a reasonable and predictable tax, regulatory, and legal climate, Texas businesses and their employees prosper,” said April Ancira, Vice President of the Ancira Auto Group in San Antonio.

Christopher Williston, President and CEO of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas said, “Governor Abbott has been an outstanding leader and has enhanced the reputation and reality of Texas as a great – if not the best – place to live and do business in the United States. As one of the most heavily regulated industries in existence, we are grateful for the ‘balanced regulatory approach’ championed by the Abbott administration in Texas. While facing significant headwinds from Washington, DC, the environment in Texas provides for appropriate oversight and consumer protection while allowing private businesses to serve their customers and make a profit. It is as it should be.”

Jeffery Lee Martin, Executive Director of the Texas Independent Automobile Dealers Association said, “TIADA supports the re-election of Governor Greg Abbott. He has been a tireless advocate for small businesses in Texas, including independent automobile dealers. His economic policies continue to make Texas a great place to own and operate a business.”
