HOUSTON—Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott today addressed the Texas Alliance of Child and Family Services Texas annual Child Care Administrators Conference in Houston during the Closing General Session.

“As Attorney General, and now as Governor, Greg has always made protecting Texas children one of his top priorities, which is why during this past legislative session his number one emergency item was to repair our broken foster care and child protective system,” the First Lady said. “Providing the support that Texas children and families need is a bigger job than state government can do alone. It requires a Network of Nurture – a framework to make sure these children and families are getting the resources and support they need. As we have seen in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, nothing is more powerful than Texans helping Texans.”

The conference was attended by over nine hundred child care administrators, and the theme “Building Communities of Care” with a focus on strengthening partnerships to improve the quality of services provided and ensure a better future for children and families in every community in Texas.
