AUSTIN — Gina Hinojosa has tried to dodge her record against law enforcement as a “mere distraction,” but it won’t work. As we enter Texas Law Enforcement Appreciation Month, the more than 100,000 Texans who put their lives on the line every day to ensure law and order deserve more support and respect than she gives them. Her record is clear: she championed $150 million cuts to public safety in Austin, voted against protecting officers in the line of duty from assault, and sought to strip officers of protections from frivolous lawsuits.
“Gina Hinojosa’s public safety record is embarrassing. No matter what she may say on the campaign trail, her record tells the real story: when given the chance to support Texas law enforcement, Gina has failed them time and again. Voters need to understand something very clearly — Gina’s Texas would be a more dangerous Texas.”
