AUSTIN — Gina Hinojosa’s votes in support of sex change surgeries for kids and the prosecution of parents who allegedly “misgender” their children affirm she wants Texas to follow Massachusetts’ lead. In Massachusetts, a family recently had their 15-year-old child taken from their custody under the guise of child abuse when they refused to affirm her so-called “transgender identity.”
“Gina Hinojosa’s record paints a disturbing picture of what she wants for Texas: new and higher taxes, boys in girls’ private spaces, and get-out-of-jail-free cards for the most violent repeat criminals. Her votes affirming the gender mutilation of children and keeping parents in the dark about their children’s well-being are starkly out of touch with everyday Texans.”
— Catherine Frazier, Texans for Greg Abbott Communications Director
- “A Catholic couple in Massachusetts had their daughter taken away by the state under the guise of child abuse after refusing to affirm her so-called transgender identity … they say she was secretly socially ‘transitioned’ at [school]. Now, they’re fighting to get her back before she is medically ‘transitioned’ on high-dose testosterone.” (The Washington Stand, “Massachusetts Takes Daughter from Catholic Parents for Refusing to Affirm Trans Identity,” 9/15/26).
- In 2023, Hinojosa voted against protecting children from dangerous, experimental, and life-changing medical decisions. (SB 14, 88R)

- In 2025, Hinojosa voted to keep parents in the dark about schools shaping their child’s gender identity. (SB 12, 89R)
- In 2025, Hinojosa rejected that there are only two sexes: male and female. (HB 229, 89R)
- In 2025, Hinojosa voted in favor of men and women sharing the same bathroom. (SB 8, 89(2))
