AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Steve Chazen, Ph.D. to the University of Houston System Board of Regents for a term set to expire on August 31, 2023.
Steve Chazen, Ph.D. of Bellaire is chairman, president, and CEO of TPG Pace Energy, and previously served as CEO of Occidental Petroleum Company. He is a director for Ecolab Inc. and Williams Companies and a former director and chairman of the American Petroleum Institute. Additionally, he is chairman of the University of Houston Capital Campaign Finance Committee, a director of the Houston Methodist Research Institute, member of the Baker Institute Board of Advisors, and a director and former chairman of the Catalina Island Conservancy. Chazen received a Bachelor of Arts in geology from Rutgers, a Master of Science in finance from the University of Houston, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in geology from Michigan State University.
