AUSTIN – Governor Abbott has appointed Thomas “Tom” Beall, Andrew Mills, and Janie Walenta to the Sabine River Authority of Texas Board of Directors for terms set to expire on July 6, 2023. The purpose of the Sabine River Authority is to conserve, store, control, preserve, utilize and distribute the storm and flood waters and the waters of the Sabine River and its tributaries.

Thomas “Tom” Beall of Milam is the president of Beall’s Furniture Inc., and current owner of Cimarron Equipment. Additionally, he is current owner of Red Hill Ranch Cattle and a former owner and manager of several Ashley Furniture HomeStore’s. He served on the Hemphill Independent School District Board for 15 years and is a current board member for First State Bank in Hemphill. Beall received an Associate’s degree in management from Tyler Junior College.

Andrew Mills of Hemphill is a vice president at Southside Bank. He is the area chairman of Sabine County Ducks Unlimited and a member of the Sabine County Appraisal District Board of Directors, Sabine County Economic Development Committee, First Baptist Church Personnel Committee, and the AWANA’s Kid’s Program. Mills received a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from Texas A&M University.

Janie Walenta of Quitman is a retired telecommunications manager. She is a former volunteer of Quitman Public Library. Walenta received a Bachelor of Business Administration in business management from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Business Administration in business management from the University of Dallas.
