AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott today joined local, state and federal officials as well as company leadership for a grand opening and celebration of Cheniere Energy’s first cargo shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at their Corpus Christi Liquefaction facility.

“The Lone Star State has long led the nation in domestic oil and gas production,” said Governor Abbott. “This first ever cargo shipment of LNG from Texas represents continued growth in the energy export trade, the creation of new jobs, and the expansion of our international reach. I wish Cheniere continued success as they expand their trade operations, and I look forward to continuing our work to ensure that Texas remains the energy and economic engine of America.”

Cheniere Energy, Inc. is the leading producer and exporter of LNG in the United States and is headquartered in Houston, Texas, with additional offices in London, Singapore, Beijing, Tokyo, and Washington, D.C. Cheniere has one of the largest liquefaction platforms in the world, consisting of the Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi Liquefaction facilities on the U.S. Gulf Coast.
