AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott today joined Jewish community leaders at the Texas Capitol Menorah Lighting Ceremony in celebration of the first day of Hanukkah. The Governor spoke of the strength of the Jewish people and the enduring bond between the state of Texas and the Jewish community before lighting the shamash candle of the menorah.

“Today, as we celebrate this festival of lights, we are reminded of the remarkable strength and resolve of the Jewish people,” said Governor Abbott. “The lessons of Hanukkah have endured and remain relevant in our lives today. Cecilia and I wish a joyous Hanukkah to the Jewish community here in the state of Texas, across America, and around the world.”
