AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott today endorsed Justin Ray for State Representative of House District 135. Ray is committed to serving the people of Northwest Harris County, and understands the issues that matter most to his community. Governor Abbott is proud to endorse Ray, and looks forward to working alongside him to defend the values that keep Texas the best state to live, work, and raise a family.

“I urge the people of Northwest Harris County to join me in supporting Justin Ray for State Representative,” said Governor Abbott. “Justin is a dedicated and proven conservative leader who has worked hard to defend Texas values. With a leader like Justin in the Texas House, I am confident that we will usher in an even more prosperous future for the Lone Star State.”

Justin Ray is a product of Northwest Harris County. Justin and his wife, Allison, chose to raise their family in Jersey Village and immediately became active in the community. In 2012, Justin won an open seat on Jersey Village City Council. In 2015, Justin was elected as the youngest Mayor in City history. Under his leadership, the City embarked on ambitious plans while remaining fiscally responsible and building a surplus of funds at the City level. As Mayor, Justin guided the community through major rain events including disastrous home flooding during the 2016 Tax Day Flood. Immediately, Justin led a City initiative to develop a long-term flood mitigation strategy which included engineered public works projects and street drainage improvements. During his tenure, he worked with state and local officials to shepherd the community through a difficult Highway 290 expansion. Growing up in Jersey Village, he graduated from Jersey Village High School and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Houston. After college, Justin received his J.D. from South Texas College of Law and entered the oil & gas industry, receiving the Houston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 award in 2013.
