AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott today endorsed Dr. Keven Ellis for re-election to the Texas State Board of Education District 9. Dr. Ellis currently serves as chair of the board, and previously served as Board President of the Lufkin Independent School District Board of Trustees.

“I am proud to endorse Dr. Keven Ellis for re-election to the Texas State Board of Education,” said Governor Abbott. “As chair of the board, Dr. Ellis has demonstrated effective leadership on behalf of Texas public schools. He will continue to strengthen our education system and ensure a brighter future for every Texas student. I urge the people of District 9 to support Dr. Ellis for re-election in November.”

District 9 includes the following counties: Anderson, Angelina, Bowie, Camp, Cass, Cherokee, Delta, Fannin, Franklin, Grayson, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Hopkins, Hunt, Kaufman, Lamar, Marion, Morris, Nacogdoches, Panola, Rains, Red River, Rockwall, Rusk, Shelby, Smith, Titus, Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood.
