HOUSTON – Governor Greg Abbott today hosted a Get Out the Vote event in Houston to champion conservative priorities and mobilize voters for the May Republican runoff elections. The Governor was joined by Representative Mike Schofield, Representative Valoree Swanson, Texas Railroad Commission Chairman Jim Wright, Harris County Republican Party Chair Cindy Siegel, and candidate for House District 126 Stan Stanart.

“We need every conservative to bank their vote and unite behind Republican candidates ahead of this years November elections—the stakes have never been higher,” said Governor Abbott. “We are fighting to keep Texas safe, keep Texas conservative, and keep Texas the number one state in America. That means electing Republican leaders who will back the blue, lock up dangerous criminals, secure our communities, deliver meaningful property tax relief, and defend the values that make Texas strong. If Republicans show up and vote, we will win big in Harris County and across Texas.”

Speaking to a standing room only crowd of Republican voters, Governor Abbott underscored the importance of turning out the vote to uphold the conservative principles that make Texas the best place to live, work, and raise a family. The Governor also highlighted his historic five-point property tax relief plan and public safety policy proposals, emphasizing that the next legislative session will be crucial for passing lasting property tax relief measures and essential public safety initiatives to keep Texas affordable and safe.
