Discusses Action to Waive Dyed Diesel Restrictions to Relieve Diesel Costs
HEMPHILL – Governor Greg Abbott today visited the Feed Store Cafe, a local diner known for its friendly atmosphere and Southern comfort food, where he heard from rural Texans about issues that matter most to their community and discussed the Abbott Affordability Agenda, and highlighted his recent action to waive restrictions on dyed diesel as a means to provide relief to rural Texans facing high diesel costs. Governor Abbott was joined by Representative Joanne Shofner.
“Texas is not Texas without our rural communities,” Governor Abbott said. “They represent some of the most important parts of what makes Texas, Texas, including feeding and fueling our powerful economy. By slashing property taxes and lowering housing, insurance, and energy costs, we will make Texas the most affordable state in America for Texans in every city and town.”
During the roundtable, Governor Abbott heard from residents of Sabine County about issues facing their community, including aging infrastructure, education, and cost of living in the area. Additionally, the Governor highlighted Texas’ continued efforts to improve teacher pay, including critical investments through the Teacher Incentive Allotment. He also emphasized his education plan to improve student reading and math proficiency and prioritize American history in classroom curriculums.

Governor Abbott also touted the elimination of school district homestead property taxes as a main factor in delivering tax relief for Texans. He also mentioned the reversal of a tax break exemption for data centers in the state as well as the $7.5 billion in reimbursements from the federal government in border security costs, further addressing affordability and relief across the Lone Star State.
