AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott and Senator Joan Huffman today joined Coach USA in Houston to discuss efforts to combat human and sex trafficking. Most recently, Governor Abbott announced the second part of his Safeguarding, Securing, Serving plan, which includes recommendations to disrupt human trafficking and smuggling. At today’s press conference, Coach USA announced a new campaign to assist in the fight against human trafficking by training their workers to spot the signs of trafficking and distributing information about a national tip line to its employees.

“It’s our duty to support victims, prevent these heinous crimes, and deliver justice to the criminals who perpetrate them,” said Governor Abbott. “As governor, combatting human and sex trafficking has been and will continue to be one of my top priorities. With partners like Senator Joan Huffman in the State Senate and Coach USA in the private sector, we’ll continue to crack down on this heinous crime and work towards a safer future for our communities.”

“I am honored to have been here today with Governor Abbott and leaders from Coach USA as we further the cause against human and sex trafficking,” said Senator Huffman. “Working together, we will secure our communities, educate Texans on reporting and preventing trafficking, and crack down on these unspeakable crimes.”
