“Congratulations to Gary Gates on securing a hard-fought victory in Texas House District 28,” said Governor Abbott. “National and statewide Democrats pulled out all the stops for this race—investing thousands of hours of manpower and well over a million dollars of out-of-state money to flip this seat blue.
“Today, voters resoundingly rejected the Democrats’ socialist ideology and took a major step toward keeping Texas red. As we look ahead to the 2020 election, we must be prepared to replicate this success across the state if we are to secure a more prosperous future for Texas. I look forward to working with Gary as we continue to keep Texas a bastion of freedom and opportunity.”
