AUSTIN – Greg Abbott and Carly Fiorina today addressed a Republican women’s luncheon in Austin, TX, speaking to the importance of the women’s vote in this election. Cecilia Abbott also addressed the crowd, kicking off the event with remarks about her husband’s dedication to Texas families and an introduction of Carly Fiorina.

In her remarks, Fiorina – former CEO of Hewlett-Packard and first woman CEO of a Fortune 50 company – discussed the importance of limiting the size and growth of government to ensure success for every man, woman and child in Texas. Fiorina also offered her endorsement of Greg Abbott for governor, saying, “I believe that in leadership, the highest calling of leadership is to unlock potential in others…There is only one candidate in this election for governor who will focus on further unleashing the potential and the opportunity here in Texas…There’s only one candidate who has the vision, a blueprint for Texas going forward. Greg Abbott understands that the past is not prologue. That the strong foundation that has been built here in the state has to continue to be built for the 21st century. And of course that candidate is Greg Abbott.”

Following Fiorina’s remarks, Abbott addressed the crowd to promote his goal to make Texas number one in the country for the amount of women-owned businesses located within the state. “Texas has more than 737,000 businesses owned by women, ranking second in the U.S.,” Abbott said. “Women are a huge part of Texas’ economic success. My goal is to make Texas number one for the number of women-owned businesses in the country. Texas is the greatest state in the nation. As your governor, I’ll make it even better – with women helping to lead the way.”

Greg Abbott and Carly Fiorina will also visit Dallas today to host a small business event at Cheesecake Royale at 4 P.M. CT.
