Posters learned a few things about Attorney General Greg Abbott in his quest for governor last night.

In response to a Twitter Townhall, he was asked to name three areas where he disagreed with Rick Perry. His answer was on the Trans Texas Corridor (legislatively killed), the HPV vaccine mandate (legislatively killed) and he has a different approach to economic development.

“I’m against cronyism & favor a level playing field & believe gov’t shouldn’t pick b/t winners & losers,” Abbott posted.

His early roll-out speech also contains a line against government picking winners and losers, a reference to incentive money paid out to relocating businesses from the Texas Enterprise Fund and Emerging Technology Fund, championed by Perry.

Abbott defended his fierce opposition to the Affordable Care Act. He said he believes climate change was not brought on by fossil fuels because such warming happened milleniums ago.

Obviously, some of the questions were posed by folks not friendly to his campaign.

“When did you first start hating women? Would you say it’s genetic or learned?” one poster asked, apparently because of Abbott’s staunch anti-abortion beliefs.

“My mother is my hero, my wife the love of my life &my daughter the reason I fight for children each day,” Abbott replied.

Abbott, was asked what he can do to attract minority supporers. As attorney general, he has enthusiastically defended state laws passed on redistricting and Voter ID — both of which have been just as vigorously fought by Hispanic and black organizations, claiming they foster discriminaion (so far, the courts have agreed with them).

In one question, he was asked in Spanish what he will do to reach out to Latina voters.

He responded, “Mi esposa es Latina. Y podré comunicarme con todos los votantes.” My wife is Latina. And I will speak with all voters.
