AUSTIN – Today the National Federation of Independent Business, NFIB, Texas office endorsed Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott for his 2010 General Election campaign.

“NFIB is proud to announce our support of Attorney General Abbott,” said Will Newton, NFIB/Texas Executive Director. “He has been a proven friend to the small business community and is the pro-small business candidate in this race.”

“General Abbott understands that small business is our state’s number one job creator and the lifeblood of our economy,” continued Newton. “He was one of the first AGs around the country to challenge the onerous new healthcare law and defend an individual’s right to make decisions about their own healthcare.”

“NFIB has been working closely with his office to overturn the healthcare law, and we look forward to seeing him remain in office while this important lawsuit makes its way through the courts,” Newton added.

With nearly 25,000 members in Texas, NFIB endorses candidates based on their record on small business issues. The endorsement comes from the NFIB SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the political action committee for NFIB/Texas membership.

“The National Federation of Independent Business is one of the foremost organizations in the country working on behalf of the business community – and is a valued ally in our challenge against the unconstitutional health care legislation. As Attorney General, I am committed to fighting against federal government overreaches that threaten Texas jobs and economy, and trample our constitutional liberties. It is an honor to have the continued support of the NFIB,” said Attorney General Abbott.
