NUMBER ONE RADICAL GINA HINOJOSA VOTED AGAINST PARENTS’ RIGHTS

AUSTIN — Gina Hinojosa doesn’t believe parents should be the primary decision-makers in their children’s lives. She voted against giving parents a say over their children’s sex education, supports inappropriate library materials for kids, and backs radical ideological agendas in Texas public schools.

“As the most radical member in the Texas House, it is no surprise that Gina Hinojosa trusts teachers’ unions and school bureaucrats more than parents. Gina is more concerned with teaching Texas kids about their gender identity than she is equipping them with the foundational skills they need to succeed.”

— Catherine Frazier, Texans for Greg Abbott Communications Director

  • While on the AISD School Board, Hinojosa helped create an LGBTQ Advisory Committee and directed AISD school staff to give the board “more information on what kind of education AISD is providing to students and staff about gender expression, sensitivity and understanding.” (Community Impact News, 10/28/2014)
  • During a House committee hearing on the Parents’ Bill of Rights (SB 12, 89R), Hinojosa questioned why “[the state should] prohibit instruction programming regarding sexual orientation or gender identity” — and expressed serious concern for a bill that might prohibit kids from learning a “biology lesson that references sexual orientation in other species.”
  • Hinojosa characterized state leaders’ efforts to ban Critical Race Theory and radical gender ideology from Texas public schools as “stupid political nonsense.” (Austin American-Statesman, 2/6/22)
