AUSTIN – Today, Second Amendment advocates from Texas and across the country showed their support for Governor Greg Abbott’s re-election campaign. The event, held in Waco, was attended by representatives from the National Rifle Association and the Texas State Rifle Association. Governor Abbott’s campaign also released a video from Second Amendment groups championing the work he’s done in Texas.
Wayne LaPierre, CEO of the National Rifle Association, said in a video for the campaign, “For generations, the NRA has fought for the freedom of tens of millions of Americans from all walks of life. We’ve worked with good folks from all across this great country in courthouses, statehouses and in our nation’s capital, to make sure that good people have the right to defend themselves, the right to hunt, and the right to own a gun for any lawful purpose. Today I’m proud to announce the the NRA’s Political Victory Fund is endorsing Texas Governor Greg Abbott. Governor Abbott is a tireless defender of the right to keep and bear arms. He signed Constitutional Carry legislation, allowing more law-abiding Texans the ability to defend themselves, and he made Texas Second Amendment sanctuary state turning the Great State of Texas in a beacon of freedom for gun owners.”
At the event, National Rifle Association President Charles Cotton said, “In an era when some politicians are trying to defund law enforcement, crime in liberal led cities is up, and Washington has left the border wide open, the ability to secure yourself and your family with your Second Amendment rights has never been more paramount. Texas is a freedom-loving state, and with Governor Abbott’s continued leadership, and proven results, we can ensure a safer future for all Texans.”
“The Founding Fathers had a purpose with the Second Amendment and because of Governor Greg Abbott we’ve been able to protect the Second Amendment in Texas. I’m very honored to give the Governor a strong endorsement from the Texas State Rifle Association”, said Daryl Valdez, President of the Texas State Rifle Association.
While at the event, Governor Abbott and State Representative Doc Anderson also encouraged all Texans to vote early for the March 1st primary.
