The ad will begin airing tonight during evening newscasts

AUSTIN – Texans For Greg Abbott today released a powerful new statewide TV ad entitled “Hope,” which tells the story of the Workman family who survived the attack on the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs on November 5th, 2017 that left 26 people dead and 20 injured.

The two minute spot, which will air in every media market in Texas, shares the harrowing experience from the perspective of Julie Workman, whose son, Kris, was shot in the back, shattering his vertebrae, leaving him forever paralyzed. The Governor, who also suffered a vertebrae injury when he was 26, confining him to the wheelchair he is in today, visited Kris and Julie Workman in the hospital in the immediate aftermath of the attack.

As Julie Workman says in the ad, the Governor gave their family hope at a time when they desperately needed it. Julie goes on to say that the governor is a living testament to overcoming challenges and proof that anything is possible in Texas.

The Governor appeared on Fox News this morning to talk about the ad, and he will appear on a Facebook Live with Julie Workman this evening at 7:00 pm CT on the Greg Abbott Facebook page.
