AUSTIN – Today the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association PAC (TSCRA PAC) endorsed Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott for his 2010 General Election campaign.
“General Abbott shares the same values as Texas ranchers,” said Dave Scott, TSCRA president and TSCRA PAC co-chairman. “He believes in free enterprise and protecting ranchers from overreaching government regulation, two things that are critical to the success of the Texas cattle industry.”
“He’s worked to defend the Texas cattle industry against harmful EPA regulations that could impose costly and bureaucratic new mandates. General Abbott will continue to be a strong advocate for the cattle industry, which is why the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association PAC is proud to support him.”
The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association is a 133-year-old trade organization and is the largest and oldest livestock association in Texas. TSCRA represents more than 15,000 beef cattle producers, ranching families and businesses who manage approximately 4 million head of cattle on 51.5 million acres of range and pasture land, primarily in Texas and Oklahoma.
“Texas’ cattle industry and hard working ranchers are invaluable Texas resources. For centuries, Texas’ cattle industry has fueled our economy and ensured that it remains one of the nation’s strongest. Today, this industry and others are being threatened by an over-regulating and overreaching federal government. As Attorney General, I am fighting unconstitutional government regulations that threaten thousands of Texas jobs and stifle our economy. Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association is a prominent voice on behalf of Texas cattlemen, and I am honored to have their support in this fight,” said Attorney General Abbott.
