AUSTIN — Gina Hinojosa’s support for defunding the police is in line with the platform of the Democratic Socialists of America. She voted to slash local police funding and opposed the idea that voters should have a say in it. She refused to protect law enforcement officers in the line of duty from assault. Hinojosa even co-authored a bill to strip officers of protections from frivolous lawsuits.
