AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott today highlighted the landmark achievements of the 2025 legislative session and reaffirmed his commitment to defending conservative values in Texas during a moderated discussion with Texas Values President Jonathan Saenz at the 8th annual Texas Values Faith Fest.
“Serving as governor means working tirelessly to move important issues across the finish line, and this past session we did just that,” said Governor Abbott. “From restoring common sense to protecting women’s privacy, children’s safety, and families’ rights, Texas delivered conservative wins that made Texas an even better and stronger state.”
During his remarks, Governor Abbott recalled important lessons of faith in the aftermath of the accident that left him paralyzed:
“I learned, maybe the hard way, about the importance of having God as your guide,” he said. “After my accident, I found my pathway forward through a deeper, stronger connection to God, and I have sought daily to fulfill His will, not my own.”
He emphasized his partnership with Texas Values in safeguarding our children’s education, bolstering parental rights, empowering Texas families with universal school choice, and keeping Texas classrooms focused on learning instead of political indoctrination. The Governor underscored new protections for women’s sports and privacy, making clear that Texas will not allow biological men to compete against women. He also stressed the importance of the Texas Women’s Privacy Act as a restoration of common sense, ensuring women can feel safe in their restrooms and reaffirming the timeless principle of protecting privacy and safety in public spaces. Governor Abbott doubled down on defending and upholding strong conservative principles that make Texas great.
Additionally, Governor Abbott highlighted Senate Bill 10, which he signed into law in June, requiring Texas classrooms display the Ten Commandments. The Governor noted that this effort builds on his long record defending faith in the public square, from his victorious oral arguments at the U.S. Supreme Court to signing Senate Bill 10 into law. Finally, the Governor pointed out that the Ten Commandments are the foundation of America’s founding values and freedoms and should rightfully be displayed in Texas schools.
