KEMAH — Governor Greg Abbott today urged Texans to vote early during a Get Out the Vote event at Jackie’s Bar and Grill, where he highlighted the historic conservative victories from the 89th Legislative Session now on the ballot this November.

“It was great to be back in Galveston County where Texans know what’s at stake,” said Governor Abbott. “These constitutional amendments give voters the opportunity to eliminate burdensome taxes, protect freedom, and make Texas even stronger. From cutting taxes to strengthening public safety and improving education, this election is critical. I’m confident we will win Galveston County in this next election. I encourage every Texan to vote early and help secure the future of our great state.”

Governor Abbott highlighted the historic conservative victories that are keeping Texas strong, free, and secure. He underscored the state’s success in strengthening border security, raising teacher pay, keeping boys out of girls’ sports, improving student outcomes in Texas schools, and protecting Texas from foreign adversaries through tough new laws.

He emphasized that these accomplishments reflect Texas values by defending families, supporting educators, and safeguarding Texans’ freedom from outside threats. Governor Abbott urged Texans to cast their ballots in the November 4 Constitutional Amendment Election to protect the progress made this session and ensure that Texas remains on the path of freedom, and prosperity for generations to come.

The Governor was joined at the event by Representative Greg Bonnen and Representative Terri Leo Wilson.

Governor Abbott highlighted several key propositions that solidify the conservative victories from the 2025 Legislative Session, including:

  • Proposition 3 which keeps dangerous criminals off our streets by allowing judges to deny bail for heinous crimes, including rape, murder, and human trafficking.
  • Proposition 4 which dedicates $1 billion annually to fund critical water projects across Texas, including improving water systems, fixing leaking pipes, and ensuring Texans have reliable water sources for the future.
  • Proposition 6 which protects Texans’ retirement accounts, pensions, investments, and Texas’ stock exchanges, safeguarding your hard-earned money and our growing financial sector.
  • Proposition 16 which ensures that only U.S. citizens can vote in Texas elections.
