Leads Nation for 2025 Job Gains
Texas is shattering records when it comes to job creation and job growth throughout the state.
Newly released figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics further underscore what Texans already know to be true: Texas is the preeminent locale for business relocations and expansions, and the greatest state in the nation to grow and raise a family.
See the latest, record-setting stats in Austin ABC-affiliate KVUE’s January 27 news segment:
The Texas economy is flourishing:
· Texas gained 132,500 jobs from December 2024 to December 2025, more than any other state and outpacing the national annual job growth rate by half a percentage point.
· Texas reached a new high with the largest labor force ever in the state’s history at 15,964,000.
· Texas reached a new high for Texans working, including self-employed, at 15,283,600.
· Texas reached a new high for total nonfarm jobs at 14,341,000 after adding 19,700 positions over the month.
· The Texas unemployment rate registered at 4.3%, below the U.S. unemployment rate of 4.4%.
In fact, Texas is the economic envy of the nation. The state’s latest jobs gains not only demonstrate the strength and resilience of Texas’ growing economy, the eighth largest in the world, but they also emphasize the fact that Texas’ business-friendly climate offers boundless opportunities for hardworking Texans to thrive in their careers.
The historic highs for Texans working and the size of the Texas labor force are nothing new. Texas broke its 2024 records one year ago. These new stats, however, come on the heels of Governor Greg Abbott’s November 2025 announcement of over $14 million in Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) training grants across Texas.
Texas, under Governor Abbott’s leadership, is investing big in the future of the state’s young and growing workforce. JET grants, which are awarded through the Texas Workforce Commission, help public junior, state, and technical colleges, school districts and open-enrollment charter schools buy equipment for career and technical education programs so that students stand a better chance of securing high-demand, good-paying jobs upon graduation.
Put simply, Texas is where free enterprise flourishes and jobs grow. As 2026 unfolds, Texas proves it is still leading the way
