FAIRVIEW — Governor Greg Abbott today received the endorsement from the American Association of Senior Citizens, a group representing thousands of seniors in Texas and throughout the nation. Speaking at the Republican Club at Heritage Ranch in Fairview, the Governor signed his Compact with Seniors.
Speaking before hundreds, Governor Abbott outlined key points of his Compact with Seniors, including increasing penalties for crimes against seniors, giving the Texas Attorney General authority to pursue and prosecute criminals who prey on seniors, and protecting seniors from rising property taxes so that they can keep their homes.
The Governor was joined at the meeting by American Association of Senior Citizens President Saul Anuzis and Republican Club at Heritage Ranch President Jack DeSimone. Governor Abbott also presented a special proclamation recognizing American Association of Senior Citizens President Saul Anuzis as an honorary Texan in recognition of his contributions to communities across Texas.
“Texas is exceptional today because of the role seniors have played during past decades, and I’m running for re-election to continue delivering results designed to help them,” said Governor Abbott. “From focusing on property tax reform, increasing protection from physical and financial abuse, and more, we have achieved a lot in support of our seniors, but there is still more to be done. I’m running for re-election to keep delivering on these promises so that we can continue ensuring Texas seniors are not taxed out of their homes, protected from criminals, and have the ability to access all resources available to them. Our seniors have shaped the promise of opportunity, prosperity, and hope of Texas, and I’m running to uphold that promise for them.”
