GEORGETOWN – Governor Greg Abbott today touted Texas’ continued economic strength, pro-growth policies, and commitment to affordability, education excellence, and public safety. Addressing a packed crowd of Republican leaders, activists, and supporters, the Governor highlighted the bold achievements made under his leadership.

“Texas is the economic powerhouse of America,” said Governor Abbott. “We have added jobs, expanded businesses, and welcomed new companies that help drive our $2.7 trillion economy, now the eighth largest in the world. More Texans are working today with higher wages than ever before, and small businesses remain the backbone of our success. We will continue to build on this momentum to secure a stronger future for every family in our state.”

The Governor shared his Texas Taxpayer Empowerment plan to reform property taxes so that local property tax hikes are put to an end.

Governor Abbott’s 5 Point Property Tax Relief Plan:

  • Require Common Sense Local Spending Limits
  • Require Two-Thirds Voter Approval for Tax Increases
  • Empower Voters to Roll Back Taxes
  • Create Appraisal Predictability and Cap Appraisal Growth
  • Eliminate School Property Taxes for Homeowners

Governor Abbott also showcased Texas’ leadership in aerospace, artificial intelligence, and other high-growth industries, noting that the state’s economy is growing at twice the national rate. He emphasized Texas’ pro-business environment, pointing to laws passed to cut red tape, reduce the cost of doing business, and increase the personal-property tax exemption for tools and equipment from $500 to $125,000. Governor Abbott also highlighted that Texas leads the nation in housing construction, helping drive down costs for families.

Governor Abbott contrasted Texas’ approach with the radical and liberal policies of Democrat-led cities nationwide, warning that a single election could jeopardize Texas’ economic success, public safety, and border security. He noted that out-of-state billionaires are attempting to influence Texas elections but vowed they would not succeed.

“This is Texas,” said Governor Abbott. “You cannot buy us. You cannot beat us. We will meet you at the ballot box, and we will win.”

The Governor concluded by pledging to defend Texas’ culture, values, and heritage. “Texas was built by bold men and women who believed in freedom, faith, and hard work,” said Governor Abbott. “We are the heirs of that legacy. In 2026, we will remind the world that the spirit of Texas will never be broken. Together, we will defend this state, protect our future, and keep Texas the greatest state in America.”
