AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott today hosted a luncheon with nearly 200 African American leaders from across the Houston area. Faith and business leaders attended the event to hear from Governor Abbott about his vision for Texas and the Houston community over the next four years. Governor Abbott detailed strategies to grow the economy, create more jobs, and provide a better education for Texas students. Prior to his remarks, the governor spent time meeting with the community leaders to learn more about the issues facing the African American community and to hear their ideas on how to tackle those challenges.

“All of us here today are connected by our shared values of faith and family, as well as by our shared goal of creating a better future for our communities and for the entire state of Texas,” said Governor Abbott. “Over the next four years, I will work to further expand our economy, improve our schools, and strengthen our communities. I know that by working together, we will achieve these goals and so much more.”
