MISSION – Governor Greg Abbott today announced the next phase of his Keep Texas Affordable agenda. After meeting with Mission-area families about the difficult choice of expensive life-saving drugs and everyday essentials, the Governor proposed a $25 cap on inhalers and epinephrine – life-saving medications that can save Texans hundreds of dollars each year.
“No Texan should have to choose between buying groceries and paying for life-saving medication,” said Governor Abbott. “By capping the price of inhalers and epinephrine at just $25, millions of Texans can keep more of their hard-earned money and feel real relief. Our mission is simple: lower the cost of living in Texas for generations to come.”
The Governor’s new affordability initiative will cap monthly co-pays at $25 for inhalers and epinephrine, saving Texans at least $120 annually on inhalers and at least $650 annually on epinephrine.
The Governor noted that this proposal builds on his broader Keep Texas Affordable agenda, including his five-point property tax plan, a freeze on tuition and fees at Texas public colleges and universities, the Texas roof fortification program, a policy to reward safe drivers with lower premiums, and new essential benefit health insurance plans for small businesses.
