AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott today received the endorsement of Texans for Medical Freedom, an organization dedicated to educating Texans on their healthcare rights and defending patient autonomy.

“I am grateful for the continued support of Texans for Medical Freedom, an organization that represents more than 100,000 Texans who believe in medical freedom,” said Governor Abbott. “Texans for Medical Freedom has been a leading voice on critical issues facing Texans, standing up for informed consent and personal responsibility. Their continued work advancing medical independence reflects Texas values and strengthens efforts to ensure patients have access to the care they choose. I am proud to work alongside Jackie Schlegel and the entire Texans for Medical Freedom organization to advocate for patients across the state.”

“I am so honored and proud to endorse Governor Greg Abbott,” said Executive Director of Texans for Medical Freedom Jackie Schlegel. “We had a historic legislative session fighting for informed consent, medical privacy, and your right to make medical decisions for yourself. Governor Abbott has been with us each step of the way, and I’m so proud and so honored to stand with him, lock arms, and make America healthy again.”

Governor Abbott has consistently fought for a patient’s right to make the healthcare decisions they believe are best for them. Alongside Jackie Schlegel and Texans for Medical Freedom, Governor Abbott signed legislation banning vaccine passports in 2021. Under the Governor’s leadership, Texans are empowered to understand their medical freedoms and to advocate for their personal healthcare decisions for generations to come.

On Wednesday, Texans for Medical Freedom will host Governor Abbott in North Texas for an event supporting his re-election campaign and underscoring the Governor’s commitment to creating a better healthcare system for all Texans.
