Breakthrough Therapies Initiative and Make Texans Healthy Again PAC Endorse Governor Greg Abbott for Reelection

AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott today received the endorsement of Breakthrough Therapies Initiative (BTI) and Make Texans Healthy Again PAC. These organizations are dedicated to advancing innovative mental health solutions, strengthening chronic disease management, and improving nutrition transparency across Texas.

“As Governor, I am committed to improving mental and physical healthcare for all Texans,” said Governor Abbott. “Texans should receive the best care possible to prevent and treat illnesses. We are expanding access to quality health services in every corner of our state ensuring that care is affordable, effective, and patient-centered to keep Texas healthy.”

“The Breakthrough Therapies Initiative is proud to endorse Governor Abbott for his unprecedented leadership in advancing transformative mental-health policy in Texas,” said BTI Executive Director Garrett Coppedge. “His championing and signing of the historic Texas Ibogaine Initiative—one of the largest public investments in psychedelic research in world history—demonstrates both courage and vision at a moment when Texans urgently need new solutions. Governor Abbott has shown he is willing to act decisively to expand access to safe, effective, and innovative treatments. We look forward to supporting his continued efforts to make Texas a national leader in mental-health healing and hope.”

“Governor Abbott delivered more meaningful health policy victories this session than any other state in the nation,” said Make Texans Healthy Again Founder Travis McCormick. “By championing the Make Texas Healthy Again legislation, he strengthened nutrition education, improved food transparency, and raised the standard for school lunches and public nutrition programs. These reforms recognize a simple truth: when taxpayers subsidize poor nutrition, they end up subsidizing healthcare costs later—and Texas took a more responsible approach.”

Last year, Governor Abbott signed Senate Bill 2308, allowing for the research of ibogaine as a treatment for mental health issues such as opioid addiction, depression, and PTSD. The Governor also signed Senate Bills 25, 314, and 379 into law to prevent taxpayer dollars from funding chronic health problems. The “Make Texas Healthy Again” movement has since expanded nutrition education across Texas schools and required food-label transparency, enabling Texans to make healthy choices.
